Are you struggling with symptoms of anxiety and depression? Do you find that feelings can paralyze you from making decisions or taking risks? It can be hard to navigate when these symptoms hit. Sometimes they come on without any specific triggering event and can feel as though they are all consuming. My main goal as your therapist is to reduce your suffering and help you find ways to cope effectively with painful feeling. I provide flexible scheduling, including evening appointments.
My Background and Approach
My main goal as a therapist is to reduce painful feelings and to provide relief. We will work together to identify what is causing issue, find strategies to help cope right when symptoms emerge and learn ways to soothe. My most fundamental belief is that the only way to self-soothe is to learn self-compassion. Most of us don’t come by self-compassion naturally and my experience has shown me that it’s the most important ingredient to find both relief of symptoms and peace. We will also work to help you not only accept, but appreciate your authentic self. Many of us were taught to bottle our true authenticity. I have found that people tend to have a distorted belief that if they actually show their authentic selves that they won’t “fit in.” They create a “false self” as a result. Unfortunately, this “false self” experiences anxiety and depression. We will work together to help you appreciate your authentic self. Give me a call to see if we might be a good fit.
