About My Clients

Life is full of challenging times that can leave you feeling anxious and depressed. No matter what kind of distress you are experiencing, seeking support can help you get back on your feet and thriving in ways you never thought possible. I help my clients to gain insight and understanding into their emotional lives and relationships. Together, we work on your goals, at your pace, so in time you can feel confident in yourself and your coping abilities.

My Background and Approach

Therapy should be a warm and compassionate environment where you can share what is happening in your life without the fear of judgement. I am a client-centered therapist and thus, we develop your goals collaboratively and I tailor treatment to you and your treatment needs and preferences. For example, I am trained in more solution-focused and skills oriented therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but also like to integrate techniques from Interpersonal and Humanistic therapies. My treatment approach is most appropriate for individuals who are experiencing a mild to moderate degree of distress in day-to-day life and struggling to cope with anxiety, relationship difficulties, compulsions, depression etc. My approach to therapy is not appropriate for individuals experiencing more significant/severe clinical distress such as those with chronic and/or currently ongoing suicidal thoughts or previous suicide attempts.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

“The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of the world but those who fight and win battles that others do not know anything about.” - Jonathan Harnisch I believe that every person has innate worth as an individual. I believe that every person is entitled to dignity and respect, regardless of race, color, religion, age, ability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity. I believe everyone has the right to live, to be free, and to feel safe and accepted. Working with my therapy dog, Benji, is important to me. Benji helps to create an environment in which clients feel comfortable and cared for during therapy sessions. He is a registered therapy dog and his training allows him to volunteer in select nursing homes, hospitals, and other organizations where he is needed. He is in training to become my assistant for animal-assisted psychotherapy and his warm and gentle presence during therapy puts my clients at ease.
