I focus on your strengths. I greatly dislike the term "____ needs counseling." It implies pathology and can be demeaning and stigmatizing.
A graduate professor for 7 years, I also was the director of a ten room graduate school counseling clinic and the clinical coordinator of our graduate program. I'm a published researcher in professional peer-reviewed journals, have presented at national, regional, state, and local associations. I have over 21 years of fully licensed experience with a wide range of settings including seven months directly treating clients at a psychiatric emergency room (Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX).
Most importantly in my opinion, I strive to be humble, honest, practical, encouraging, challenging, compassionate, and accepting.
