I am a Vietnamese - American and child of a war refugee. Navigating multiple cultures in one’s family lineage, especially those which clash with each other, means that multicultural people have to constantly pick and choose among value sets that are not always in agreement. As a multiracial person it’s important to have a healthy sense of your identity - who you are, who you are not, and who you would like to be, in a way that respects your cultural background.

In addition to being a trauma therapist, I mentor successful people, CEOs, and entrepreneurs all over the world. I have particular interests in furthering the professional skills and confidence of women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ in the workplace.

Trauma is heavily correlated with abuse of all types - interpersonal, workplace, and familial. Resolving trauma is important to being able to have healthy relationships. Leaving the past in the past and putting bad memories to rest is crucial to your emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational health. I am trained in EMDR to facilitate the process of healing from trauma and restoring you to your best self.

Much of my work in the last 12 years has focused on women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+people. As our society continues to change and equality issues continue to be at the forefront of the political climate, it’s extremely important to equip historically non-advantaged people with the confidence, skills, and healthy self-esteem to succeed in a challenging world.

EMDR is a clinically sound, drug free trauma treatment that has been used successfully all over the world to treat many different forms of traumatic experience and help the affected people find healing. Trauma is a constant presence in our world, and it is essential to physical, emotional, spiritual and relational health to clear it as much as we can so that we can continue to learn, grow, and be the best of ourselves.

30+ years of Buddhist practice has given me skills and tools that I enjoy teaching to my clients: meditation, emotional self regulation, self compassion, patience, kindness, and a community focus. Many of the things that help us heal and make us well start with understanding ourselves and also being able to self-regulate and self-correct unhelpful beliefs or patterns. I also have many clients who want to heal from abusive religious backgrounds and enjoy the non-theistic approach of Buddhism.

Being a therapist in COVID times has presented a set of unique, enduring challenges to our resilience and ability to navigate complex questions in the face of an ongoing series of crises. How well do you take care of yourself as a helper and healer? Let’s talk about it.
