About My Clients

I am personally and professionally familiar with geek and gaming culture, and believe these experiences, beliefs, and identities have a place in a successful therapeutic relationship. Additionally, all members of the LGBTQ+ community are welcome as clients. I believe in the power of community that is built on shared values and experiences. If you identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ and/or gaming communities and would prefer a therapist within these communities, we may be a good fit.

My Background and Approach

Therapy should be a collaborative process, built on mutual respect, genuineness, and trust. In our work together, I strive to build an authentic therapeutic relationship where we can work together to identify your values, and take actionable steps towards positive change in your life. I strongly believe in the importance of common therapeutic factors, including empathy, authenticity, and clear expectations. I am a licensed psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas. In addition to my training and experience with evidence-based treatments such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), I am nationally registered in the trauma-focused treatment Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the integration of social justice in therapy, and work to recognize and acknowledge the impacts of diversity, privilege, discrimination, and culture on an individual’s experience. When setting treatment goals and exploring values, the impact of an individual’s identities and the intersections of those identities are considered. It is important to me to create a collaborative environment where you feel safe to express your thoughts and feelings. As fit is instrumental to a successful therapy experience, I encourage you to reach out to me to ask any questions you have and confirm we are a good match.
