About My Clients

Due to my academic experience I work well with faculty/students in graduate education and understand the unique stressors involved in higher education. I also work with adult clients struggling with mood/anxiety disorders, the misuse of substances, and trauma. I work with many individuals in the queer and trans community.

My Background and Approach

My approach to treatment and support varies depending on client need and their individual goals. I believe you already have everything you need to move forward with your life in a direction that satisfies you - you just need some help identifying and following the most effective path. Let me help you find an approach to life that allows you to enjoy the moment, not focus on the past or worry about the future. My approach is an eclective one - not all interventions are effective for all clients. My client-centered approach typically includes a combination of the following techniques: cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and committment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care. Reach out today and let's get you on the best path for you!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we have all had distressing experiences in our lives - experiences that shaped our understanding of the world and how our mind/body reacts in any given situation. I believe part of our healing journey is unlearning some of those lessons so we can develop more skillful and effective behaviors to help us reach our goals. Will we still have tough days? Of course. But we can be better prepared to deal with them and not get thrown off of our journey by the tough times. I believe black/brown lives matter, I consider myself an ally to the queer community, and am a supporter of gender equality. I am dedicated to doing the work to learn more about my role in upholding systems designed to be oppressive and dismantle those systems. Also, pet lovers welcome! I practically own a zoo.
