About My Clients

I love working with adults and teens who are struggling with interpersonal issues (family, work, at school, with friends, etc), those wanting to gain insight into themselves, and individuals in the process of healing from traumatic incidents. I work with many folks who suffer from anxiety (including social and performance), panic attacks, fears, grief, body image issues, and those who have a critical inner voice. I love supporting those who desire to gain greater self-worth and self-compassion.

My Background and Approach

I have an existential-humanistic approach, focusing on the present moment and the importance of the relationship between me and my clients. My style is warm and direct, and many folks I work with have told me they appreciate my curiosity and sense of humor. We will focus on the present moment and what is happening in your body in order to aid in the healing process. I have specialized training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), which is an evidence-based practice known to be effective in decreasing psychological distress caused by disturbing life experiences and trauma. EMDR is used to help folks with such challenges as phobias, car accidents, sexual assault or abuse (recent or during childhood), grief and loss, upset around breakups, painful conflicts at work or home, distress about what you might see as not being able to "let it go," and nerve-wracking school or work presentations or performances

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a deep commitment to my continued education around issues related to race, power, and privilege and I’m dedicated to providing support for the LGBTQIA community, BIPOC, immigrants, and others who have been impacted by systemic oppression. I am neurodiversity affirming, and openly queer. My practice is welcoming to ethically non-monogamous and polyamorous folks, and those looking to explore non-traditional relationships. I identify as a Democratic Socialist, and am passionate about supporting those fighting for workers' rights and economic equality. I actively train in martial arts and practice mindfulness meditation, both of which I enjoy incorporating into my work with clients. I LOVE animals and if I see you on Zoom, I really hope your pet(s) can make an appearance. Anxious about coming in to the therapy office? I'm always more than happy to start the session off with a walk near my office, or hold the session at New Brighton Beach, which is just a mile away.
