About My Clients

Have you ever sat across a provider, exhausted, because you find yourself in a place of having to educate them how to provide basic, competent care for you? My goal is to break that barrier, and actively challenge cis-centric methods of providing therapy. Here, you will find a space centering your lived experience, empowerment, self-determination, and self-discovery to explore gender, sexuality, and how to embrace your authentic self.

My Background and Approach

I believe that through the development of a therapeutic relationship founded in authenticity, openness, safety, and connection, we can co-create a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to explore healing. Affirming care means centering your lived experience. It means identifying areas of distress and dysphoria, if that is part of your story. It means taking into account the ways your self-determination is limited or thwarted by the influences of systems of oppression and privilege. And perhaps most importantly, affirming care means celebrating your resilience in living your truth—in the midst of forces in our lives that aim to dictate and disrespect who we are as queer, trans, and gender diverse folks. I also provide assessments and referral letters for access to gender-affirming hormones and surgeries. I operate under an informed consent model, which means I honor your dignity and freedom to make your own choices and help you prepare and explore feelings about these interventions.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As an openly queer, transgender man, I am committed to providing LGBTQ-affirmative therapy services to all. I stand in solidarity with folks who have experienced barriers to their own unique journey of transitioning. I provide psychotherapy to individuals 18 and older, and I strive to work from these lenses: Queer affirming; Trans affirming; Relationship structure minority affirming (including consensual non-monogamy and polyamory); Sex and Kink positive; Fat/body positive and Health-at-Every-Size (HAES); Trauma-informed and Resilience based. Social justice is an inherent focus of my therapeutic approach. Helping clients embrace their authentic selves involves overcoming internal barriers, but also navigating systems of oppression and privilege. Advocacy is a fundamental part of my work with clients, especially those with marginalized identities.
