About My Clients
I work with individuals (ages 10 and older), couples (Level 2 Gottman trained), and families to help navigate a variety of concerns: anxiety, depression, emotional/ behavioral struggles, life transitions (adolescent challenges, blending families, moves, etc.), trauma (specializing in religious trauma), grief/loss, and relational challenges. My diverse experiences (city, rural, suburbia, island, etc.) help me meet each client within their cultural context.
My Background and Approach
Working with pre-teen through adults, I've been supporting families to engage in healthy patterns throughout my career. The most important relationships in our lives have significant impact on our mood, thought patterns & behaviors. My approach is to do a holistic look with clients on their background, beliefs, culture, family history, presenting concerns, and past/current relationships to help determine the root of a client's presenting symptoms. Specializing with pre-teen/adolescent clients, I provide a non-judgmental, confidential space for teens while still partnering with parents to empower them to support their teen at home (Level 1 Synergetic Play Therapy Trained). I value the healing power of a therapeutic relationship that is founded in authenticity. My goal is to partner with each client to promote healing that leads to thriving, not just surviving. I warmly invite you and your family to take the first step towards thriving today by scheduling an appointment with me.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Systems, especially unjust systems, greatly impact a person's ability to thrive. In my approach, I take into consideration the systems that a client experiences personally as well as globally. I partner with clients to help push back against unjust systems, using their particular strengths and power. We have more power than we usually think we do, and sometimes we just need someone else to see it in us to be able to notice it in ourselves. I love empowering client's to notice what is in their locus of control and to act on it. We also discuss and use radical acceptance to notice what is outside of our control, so that whatever situation you may find yourself in, you can find peace.
