About My Clients

My clients share a common experience: something happened, and the impact has lingered, festered, and taken on a life of its own. You may know exactly what caused your pain. Or, you may just have a sense that this chronic unease has roots in your past. Perhaps after working hard and getting to a place of stability- or after having your own children- there is an urgency to explore and heal the wounds of your past. I would be honored to provide the framework you need to come out stronger than ever.

My Background and Approach

First and foremost, I provide an emotion focused, interpersonal process approach with my clients. This means I see our relationship as a foundational tool for growth and change. Together, we run a laboratory to experiment with new ways of communicating, expressing, and relating. We are also always on the hunt for activated emotions, so we can label and process them as they surface. After all, our undigested emotions never die, they become free roaming zombies that impact our wellbeing and relationships. Within this highly attuned relationship, I specialize in incorporating targeted, evidence-based therapies so you get relief from your specific symptoms or challenges (e.g. PE for trauma-related symptoms, IBCT for couples). I received my BS in Psychology/Neuroscience from Duke University. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at UM- St. Louis. I completed my internship and residency as a generalist and trauma-focused therapist for military Veterans and their families.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that psychological and emotional suffering is part of the human condition and results from complex interactions between an individual and their environment. I tend to avoid the medicalization of suffering. Rather, I conceptualize my clients’ struggles in a way that helps me best understand their unique experiences and select effective approaches to get them relief. One of my core values is a continual striving to hone skills in attuning to, empathizing with, and serving clients whose lived experience and identities are different than mine. I welcome thoughtful, authentic conversations around the impact and role of social identities in your life and treatment needs, as well as how our differences might impact our work together.
