About My Clients

I work with people to deal with a variety of issues they may be facing whether it is processing grief, trauma, anxiety or depression. I am eclectic and do my best to tailor treatment plans to client needs and am transparent about my methodologies and give context to my approaches.

My Background and Approach

“The unexamined life is not worth living.” This famous dictum of Socrates is one which guides my approach to therapy. I hope to examine your life alongside you in a collaborative process and cultivate perspective, resilience, and positive coping methods. With skills and knowledge in both philosophy and psychotherapy, I hope to offer a more unique approach to those dealing with things like trauma, depression, anxiety, and other life stressors. I have a history of working at an integrated care facility and have seen clients from all walks of life. I am oriented by an existential-humanistic approach. Please do not hesitate to reach out and see if we can connect. I am eager to hear your story and see if we can do what seems impossible; change the past (changing our perspective on it in a sense changes the past) and cultivate a stronger awareness of freedom, responsibility and the courage to take on the unknown that is the future.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Parrhesia is an ancient Greek word and value: “So, in two words,” Foucault summarizes, “parrhesia is the courage of truth in the person who speaks and who, regardless of everything, takes the risk of telling the whole truth that he thinks, but it is also the interlocutor's courage in agreeing to accept the hurtful truth that he hears.” (CT, p. 13) Counseling IS a place for unconditional positive regard, accurate empathy, and active listening. Counseling IS NOT a place to be coddled, infantilized, or a space where a therapist will listen and agree simply for the sake of agreeing. As a therapist, I believe it is my job to not only provide a space to process difficult life events, either in the past or current, but also to challenge clients in their reasoning and question with curiosity and respect how they arrived at certain assumption or conclusions about themselves, others, or the world.
