About My Clients
I have a special interest in working with clients who are curious about themselves and the world; longing to feel at home in their body; seeking relief from perfectionism, or from habitual cycles they can't seem to step out of; interested in deconstruction work - spirituality, sexuality or otherwise identity related; navigating or processing adverse religious experiences, religious trauma or purity culture; hoping to build stronger, richer relationships and find better ways to navigate conflict.
My Background and Approach
I don't believe we get hurt alone, and don't believe we heal alone! I also believe that the stories we tell ourselves shape our realities, and that therapy is a unique and powerful exploration of those stories. I dream of co-creating a therapeutic environment where you can take up space, breathe a sigh of relief, and be courageous in your exploration of yourself. I resonate with therapy frameworks found in Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems, with a foundation in embodiment and the impacts of our developmental experiences. I'm Level 3 certified in Integrative Somatic Parts work, and find that the work I do often centers curious and spacious exploration of the sensations that arise with emotion. From my perspective, all parts of us are precious - although occasionally misguided in their efforts to help us. Foundational in my work is the idea that our bodies learn differently than our minds, and I see therapy as a safe place to try on new ideas and rewrite old stories.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a fat and queer person, my work is influenced heavily by my values in anti-racism, anti-capitalism, queer and intersectional feminist theory, fat liberation and disability justice. My approach is direct, collaborative and relational, and our work together will be trauma-informed, sex-positive, and client-led. I have lived experience in high-control religion and am open to work with folks who are looking to do deconstruction of religious trauma.
