About My Clients

Are you a tween, teen or adult struggling with a traumatic past or new changes in your life? Maybe you feel stuck or find yourself looping in old patterns that you just can't stop. I have a special interest in supporting you make sense of family dynamics, explore identity questions, and confront social issues. I am queer affirming, and enjoy working with clients who are neurodivergent, ADHD, adolescents, and parents.

My Background and Approach

My clients often tell me that they appreciate my sense of humor and my ability to be down-to-earth and practical. I believe that laughter is essential to healing, and I strive to create an environment where my clients feel safe enough to laugh, even in the midst of difficult emotions. By working together in a trusting, supportive relationship, we can navigate life’s challenges with greater ease. Some of my favorite approaches include teaching “everyday” mindfulness techniques and breaking down challenges with organization, work-life balance and other life stressors. I will also help you to understand how your nervous system impacts your beliefs and behaviors. I understand what a big step it is reach out to a therapist and I'm happy to support you taking this brave step. When I’m not counseling, I am keeping up with my vegetable garden, spending time with my family, and seeing live comedy and music. I also love brunch, the Buffalo Bills, and being a part of the local theater community.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I started my career 10 years ago as a school counselor and family systems in-home therapist. In addition, to loving my work with folks of all ages who are neurodivergent and queer identifying, I am a strong advocate for parents and families who are navigating the complexities of community and school services. I strive to always be genuine and create an atmosphere where clients can feel comfortable and quickly at ease. In session, I often bring together both practicality and humor. I believe all this leads to a strong rapport with a high level of trust and understanding. During sessions, we will focus on building a support network and discovering strengths and personal insights while practicing autonomy and self-advocacy skills. I am well versed in cognitive and solution-focused techniques, and weave this together with somatic and experiential approaches to support regulation of your nervous system and emotions.
