As Jon Kabat-Zinn, creator of Minfulness-Based Stress Reduction, says, "Mindfulness is a way of befriending ourselves and our experiences". As a yoga teacher and reiki/sound healer, mindfulness is always at the core of my approach. When we become more mindful and meld together the body and mind connection, we shift our state of being and consciousness. Without mindfulness, we are running on autopilot and operate as mere bystanders in our own lives. With mindfulness, we are in the driver's seat.
My approach to therapy (and people in general) is to view every individual as a whole, multi-faceted person. There are many facets that make up who you are and contribute to your overall wellbeing. A holistic approach takes into account all aspects of you and unpacks each layer to get to the core of who you are and the issues you are facing.
I hold a certification in creative and expressive arts therapy. This modality is not only fun, but truly transformational. Expressive arts therapy allows you to tap into your inner child and feel and express those stuck emotions in a healthy way. You've gotta feel it to heal it.
