About My Clients
Do you find yourself frustrated with the way things are in your life or relationships? Do you need a space where you can explore who you are and what changes you want to make? I want to support you as you work on the things that will make the biggest impact in your day-to-day life. Come as you are, on your own, or with your partner or partners. I offer individual, family, and relationship sessions. Licensed in Virginia and Texas.
My Background and Approach
I approach my clinical work from a developmental and systemic perspective. From my experience, clients are much more likely to engage in the process of self-discovery and exploration when they are approached as the experts on their own lives. Creating a safe and supportive environment is my goal in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. This therapeutic relationship is of primary importance in counseling and requires careful attention to your unique cultural and personal context. I believe that change is an on-going process that happens when we explore alternatives and take on new roles. I value a collaborative approach to counseling that emphasizes the integration of various sources and systems of support. We'll work together to help you build the tools needed to combat symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflict.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people can change, and that we continue growing and learning throughout our life. Growth and development doesn't stop when we reach adulthood, and there is so much for us to discover. I'm also aware that not all of us have the same opportunities. I believe that our experiences and culture make us who we are, and that I can't really serve you without exploring those parts of you that are most meaningful to your identity. I've experienced my own challenges with anxiety and have my own experiences with therapy- both good and bad. This has taught me that therapist- client fit is a big deal- and I hope that you will find someone to listen to you who sees you for who you are.
