I work with individuals who have experienced sexual, verbal, and emotional abuse. I use a combination of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapies and EMDR experiential therapy interventions. I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to assist the client in strengthening attachment and identity concerns related to abuse.

I work with adolescents from 11 and up. I take a person-centered and empowerment approach when working with teenagers, always helping them see their own autonomy and ability to make their own decisions. I use more directive and CBT approaches as needed and work in coordination with the appropriate care givers.

I use EMDR to reprocess traumatic memories and strengthen adaptive positive beliefs. This intervention adjusts ways the brain relates to trauma and affects PTSD symptoms including flashbacks, nightmares, nervousness, and feeling on edge. I also use IFS to address the parts of ourselves that dissociate during and resulting from traumatic events.

I've used ACT interventions and approaches to address anxiety, depression, psychosis, and many other challenges. Using mindfulness strategies and experiential word pictures included in ACT interventions assists clients in better understanding their symptoms, thought processes, and ways to be more present in their lives.

I'm trained in EMDR therapy and have used with with clients who have various presenting issues. I use EMDR with clients to shift their relationship with the traumatic memories they encounter. The shift is not only a shift in the moment, but can become a lasting shift or reorienting to the issue at hand. I work with clients to develop grounding tools and ways to regulate emotionally and then move to reprocessing traumatic memories.

The Rogerian approach is primary for me because of the foundational component of keeping my client first in the therapy session. My goal is to assist my clients in identifying their values and staying true to their experiences and values throughout the therapeutic process. Additionally, I value including my own congruence, or authenticity in the therapy session.
