About My Clients
I strive to create a space that is warm, accepting, and trauma informed. I am fascinated by how our family relationships can impact our adult relationships, our self worth, and our place in the world. I work most well with clients who are curious towards their past experiences and I can support them in understanding the impact of these experiences. I am currently able to provide individual and couples counseling.
My Approach to Helping
Therapy is your space to be your true self, to feel vulnerable, and express the more difficult emotions. In our therapeutic journey, we will think about how your early childhood experiences have impacted your current interpersonal relationships and how your identities have been shaped by your environment. I do not believe that therapy can be a "cure," rather it can be insightful and healing, allowing you to grow towards the best version of yourself. I use an eclectic approach, including psychodynamic and attachment-based concepts alongside few Cognitive Behavioral techniques to inform my work.
My Values as a Therapist
I recognize the courage it takes to reach out for extra support, particularly due to stigma. Part of my beliefs are to de-stigmatize therapy and cultivate an environment, in which people feel safe to share what they may not be able to in other spaces. My unique, yet collective experiences as a child of immigrant parents and a South Asian woman allow me to recognize how family expectations, cultural identity, gender identity, and other parts of ourselves are important in the therapy work. Additionally, our practice is able to provide low-cost therapy with therapists-in-training for clients unable to afford the full fee. You are welcome to reach out for a complimentary consultation with myself or our clinical intern, Taylor Lee. You can learn about Taylor here: https://openpathcollective.org/clinicians/taylor-lee/
