This compliments individual and Gottman method couples therapy. It’s a form of therapy that focuses on adult relationships and attachment/bonding. We look at patterns in relationships and take steps to create a more secure bond and develop more trust to move relationships in a healthier, more positive direction. EFT approaches see that human emotions are connected to human needs, and therefore emotions have an innately adaptive potential. This helps change problematic emotions as well.
I’m midway to complete full certification. I have regular consultations and expected to complete my hours by Spring 2021. This means you will be getting the most current, accurate and thorough care if you opt for EMDR as part of your care. An alternative to talk therapy. This therapy sees negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors as the result of unprocessed memories. It involves procedures that focusing simultaneously on spontaneous associations of traumatic and eye movements.
I completed my certification in April 2019. Since then I have elected for specialized training in Addiction and Recovery in Relationships, Treating Trauma and Affairs, and trained for Seven Principles of Healthy Marriage workshops. The Gottman Method is a type of couples therapy that is backed by scientific research. Over several decades, Dr. John and Dr. Judy Gottman researched relationships, which led them to identify the elements it takes for relationships to thrive.
Being Gottman Method certified was key to my professional development. It became clear to me as an individual provider, that a healthy future is reliant on a healthy relationship. This isn’t something many of us were modeled or taught. Wether you are coming in for yourself or mate, this life long skills will serve you and generations after you.
Trauma (complex, layered or complicated) is a burden we don’t have to carry with us. It is not a sign of weakness. A number of factors can increase the chance that someone will have PTSD, many of which are not under that person’s control. I aim to decrease the stigmas around trauma in the form of cultural attitudes surrounding competence, self-control, and gender. With use of skills, person centered and EMDR we can turn the volume down and move forward in a good way.
