About My Clients
I work with all types of people that struggle with anxiety, depression, relational issues and much more. While I work with people of all backgrounds, I have a special place in my heart for members of the LGBTQ+ community. As a member of this community, I understand the unique experiences and difficulties that can come from this perspective. I also like working with people that have experienced religious trauma and understand that these are often overlapping experiences.
My Background and Approach
I am a Marriage and Family intern that specializes in how our relationships with those that are close to us affect our own lives and vice versa. While this approach is helpful for families and couples, it is also very effective for individuals because we are all connected with families (though these families are sometimes chosen) that we affect and that affect us. As a therapist, I primarily utilize Internal Family Systems. Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients learn about themselves and break away from their problems. Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a method of therapy that helps us identify and separate the various 'parts' of ourselves that make up our inner life. Getting to know these parts can help us understand how we function and become the leaders of our own lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all essentially good and have the strength and resiliency to live a happy and healthy life, but sometimes it can be hard to connect with this part of us for a variety of reasons. However, that is what therapy is for! Personally, I also see a therapist (yes, therapists have therapists too!) and it has been one of the most valuable experiences for me.
