My Background and Approach
True growth in therapy begins once you and I establish a genuine, trusting relationship. I provide a welcoming and validating environment, while being direct and honest with you. My goal is to help you develop the skills and confidence needed to make healthy changes. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is almost always a requirement of change, and I will challenge you in a supportive manner to do just that. Therapy is not one size fits all; therefore, I’ll tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. We’ll work collaboratively to gain a mutual understanding of the problem and explore avenues to healing and growth. I have training and experience implementing a variety of evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions. We’ll use these to address what’s happening in both your mind and body that contributes to the struggles you face. You will gain both symptom relief and tools to maintain a state of wellbeing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that change is hard, and it is always courageous to ask for help. I value kindness, authenticity, and a sense of humor in relationships. Above all, I believe in the vitality of infusing these values into your relationship with yourself, before being able to connect meaningfully with others. I have been preoccupied with the idea of human connection for more years than I care to admit, and I worked hard in my own therapy to understand its role in mental health. I want you to feel the same relief from mental health issues that I've experienced through strengthening connections with myself and others. It's never too late to seek support.
