About My Clients
My clients are introspective feelers. They are the humans who wish for meaningful conversations and connections with others, and sometimes find this hard to come by in a seemingly apathetic and hyper-individualized society. Some of my clients experience anxiety due to the climate crisis. Some have experienced a loss so profound that waking up each morning is a courageous feat. Many of my clients carry the weight of various systemic injustices on their shoulders. My clients are worthy of love.
My Background and Approach
I first became interested in being a therapist as a teenager when a social worker changed the course of my life. However, in undergrad my focus shifted as I became acutely aware of the climate crisis and I felt compelled to study environmental science. Upon graduating, I still felt that pull toward social work and therapy. It was in graduate school where I learned about ecotherapy; my final practicum focused on creating a horticultural therapy program for clients in an inpatient setting. I continued to work in this setting for a few more years after graduation and honed-in on more traditional approaches to therapy, including CBT, DBT, and ACT. My experience working inpatient psych and trainings for ecotherapy created my trauma-informed, integrated, and humanistic approach to therapy. In doing this, I work collaboratively with my clients and place an emphasis on their autonomy. I am a deeply empathic person and believe therapy with me reflects that.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are doing the best with what we have, and that sometimes we need help cultivating our resources to show up in a way that feels more aligned with our truth. I believe that our mistakes don't make us unlovable, they make us human. I believe that we are allowed to change and grow at a pace that feels good. I believe that sometimes shitty things happen and it's okay if it isn't "making you stronger" or we're struggling to see "the silver lining"; I believe it's okay to not be okay. I believe in speaking up for what is right even when it's scary. I believe in protecting and advocating for the rights of women, communities of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and this Earth. I believe that we must know justice to know peace, and that it is imperative individuals in privileged positions use it to raise up the voices of historically marginalized groups and advocate for said groups.
