As a member of the LGBTQIAPD+ community myself, I have both personal and professional experience that I bring as a clinician. And, I acknowledge that my experiences as a lesbian are my own and may be different than your experiences with gender and sexuality. I continue to learn more about this community, and I acknowledge my cisgender privilege.

As a mutli-ethnic, half Korean, first-generation born in the U.S. woman, I naturally developed a special interest in treating issues around racial identity. This includes but isn't limited to acculturative stress, systemic and institutional oppression, racism, colorism, managing dual identities if you are multi-ethnic, managing multiple cultures among family and other relationships, and much more.

I specialize in treating trauma and I have a special interest in historical and intergenerational trauma, which is not discussed or acknowledged enough in our society. People who experience historical and/or intergenerational trauma are more vulnerable to develop complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD,) and treating these complex issues has been something I have done virtually my entire career as a therapist. Also, I am a victim of intergenerational trauma and live with C-PTSD.

Feminist therapy believes that the number one reason therapy works is from the strength of the therapist-client relationship, which is built and grows from working collaboratively, having trust, and empowering you, the client. This theory also emphasizes that the "personal is political," which acknowledges that what happens in the world, both on small and large scales, can and does affect you. A person's culture, gender roles, and societal systems impact their life.

As a queer woman of color, I do my best to continue to educate myself, check my own biases, and learn new ways to be the best ally and accomplice to people of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, races, religious affiliations, and other groups not typically associated as having their own culture like the kink community, geek community, etc.

I am trained as an EMDR therapist. EMDR is an amazingly effective type of therapy, especially if you feel like talk therapy hasn't helped you or been enough to address and resolve your concerns. If you feel frustrated and "stuck" that certain events from your past hold a strong, negative, and even debilitating power over you, I strongly recommend this treatment. We explore your past and identify how it affects your present-life, and then we can reprocess your past to empower you in the present.
