About My Clients
My clients are couples, individuals, and adolescents seeking to improve their relationships, expand possibilities, and reassert agency over their lives. My clients are interested in examining the ways that environment, language, and culture may have shaped their perspectives. My clients are engaged with the meaning-making, values-defining, challenging, relational work that is going to therapy. They are ready to tell new stories of their lives and seeking support in creating those new narratives.
My Background and Approach
As human beings, we are engaged in a constant, iterative process of meaning-making. We tell stories to interpret and communicate the vastness of our lived experience, and to reinforce our sense of belonging through shared understanding. Our identities are co-created in collaboration with others as we move through life: communicating, connecting, affecting one another, revising, growing. I will support you in identifying the many ways that language, environment, and culture shape your self-perception and seek to help you locate your stories within a larger context. My approach is friendly and collaborative. I integrate principles of harm reduction, mindfulness practices, and somatic experiments with a postmodern theoretical perspective, with expertise in both narrative therapy and relational Gestalt theory. I received my BA in English from Stanford University and my MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and am currently pursuing my MFT and PCC licenses in CA.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In therapy and in my personal life, I value creativity, interdependence, and humor, and am committed to working for equity and dignity for all people. I believe that therapy is an investment in a personal relationship, and I strive to create an authentic, safe, approachable space that allows for you to be open and honest. I believe in the strong connections between mind, body, and community, and approach therapy from a holistic perspective. My particular areas of interest include couples & relationships, depression, anxiety, career and life transitions, trauma work, and working with millennials, adolescents, and creative professionals.
