About My Clients
Are you feeling anxious, sad or unsatisfied in your relationships with people, and stuck in figuring out how to attract the connection you want or how to repair what you have? I am here to help you analyze what is going wrong, and find new patterns that can help you manifest your best life. I specialize in working with individuals, families and partners with relational issues, trauma history, anxiety and depression, and/or communication difficulties.
My Background and Approach
I was trained as a couple and family therapist at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, so am skilled in working with more than one person in the room and bring my relational perspective into therapy with individuals. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, and that life is not about not having problems, but about how you deal with them. As a yoga teacher in training, I incorporate trauma-informed yoga, breathing and mindfulness into therapy sessions when appropriate. My style of conducting therapy is validating, reflective, observational and direct, with an element of coaching through in-session interventions and homework to complete outside of sessions. I recognize that taking the step to reach out to a therapist is a great leap towards change, and also one of the hardest things to do. I try to make this as go as smoothly as possible by being responsive, and referring to an appropriate alternative if I do not have space in my schedule to accommodate new clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The practice I founded in Oak Park, Grace Couple and Family Therapy, was created with the foundation of being an anti-racist and socially just organization. We believe that none of us are truly free until all of us are free. Through our work as therapists, role as coworkers, and actions in our personal lives, we strive to bring healing and growth to our community. I am LGBTQIA+, sex-worker, kink, non-monogamy and poly affirming. I have knowledge of and experience with working with clients with "alternative relationship styles", and strive to always provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment in therapy where we can talk about anything. Lastly, healing the world as much as possible is my mission in life, so for environmental and ethical reasons I choose to eat mostly vegan and use renewable resources.
