I have come across so many people who have opened up to me about their experiences in life and have found my passion to focus on women and the issues that arise for us to overcome. As women in our society, we are often disconnected from our own selves by abuse/harm from others, religious ideals, societal expectations, relationships, racial biases, transphobia, and so much more. It is only in reconnection with our relationship to self that I believe growth and healing can occur.

I'm particularly passionate about Health At Every Size and reconnecting with our bodies. All of us - men, women, and non-binary folx - can experience body image issues as we live in a society that highly values one type of body. We are shown socially that our bodies will never be enough. Through body image work and somatic therapy techniques, we can work to heal our image of our selves and love our bodies where they are at.

PTSD and C-PTSD can cause chronic disconnection with ourselves and others and impact our functioning in many areas of life. I work from the belief that we grow in and through safe relationships, so together we'll work to reconnect you with your values and boundaries to build safer relationships outside the therapeutic setting. This often includes inner child work and somatic-based techniques.

Techniques used through this framework allow us to assess your inner child wounds and healing. While I am not trained in it currently, I plan to pursue training this year to further provide this treatment. I use techniques from internal family systems to help orient you towards the inner self that may be impacting your current functioning and gain better understanding of your values.

Our bodies hold memories of everything that has happened to us and even from generations before us. There is so much history in our bodies that we often are not even aware of but inform our everyday functioning. It is through connection to the body that we can begin to heal from trauma and abuse, build awareness of our boundaries, and reconnect with our sense of self.

Relational-Cultural Therapy states that people grow in and towards relationships and that chronic disconnection in relationships can create complex trauma in our bodies. It can be difficult to grow and heal outside of important relationships, and sometimes it is even in certain relationships that we believe we cannot grow. Through this theory, I can facilitate relationship-building with the self, others, and the communities you are involved in.
