About My Clients
Have you ever felt "othered" by the world? Have you experienced something difficult that you're having trouble moving forward from? Do you have difficulty describing or understanding your place in the world? Let's talk about all of this and more. You deserve to give yourself the love and care you've been giving to others all this time.
My Background and Approach
I made the decision to become a licensed marriage and family therapist after previous lives as an accountant, web developer, and catalog editor. Over time, I’ve grown especially passionate towards working with my fellow LGBTQ+ folks, neurodivergent teens/adults, immigrants, adoptees, and people in the poly/BDSM/kink communities. I am also quite invested in helping people from all backgrounds process trauma, as I believe no human being on earth is immune to its effects. I operate with a strengths-based, client-centered orientation, with some practical components thrown in there for my fellow analytical folks. I am also increasingly incorporating EMDR and other somatic work into my practice. I can go either way with homework and like to collaborate with clients to see what will work best for them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I acknowledge that I sit at the intersection of both privilege and marginalization. In my practice, I endeavor to constantly learn how to be a better therapist to those who are both similar and different to me. I strongly believe that the personal is political and as such, I am open about my views in public as a therapist. I also adore animals and believe that they are natural healers. I volunteer at a senior cat sanctuary and love connecting with clients on their pets or animal experiences.
