This is like inner child work for the intellectual - IFS gives us language to conceptualize the different "parts" of ourselves that have developed distinct roles in maintaining our wellbeing. Identifying your parts can help us recognize the effects of trauma and internalized beliefs from childhood, and provides you an empowered way to change your internal system.

In Rogerian style, what you bring to session will guide our work together. You are the expert on your life, and you are a human, not a diagnosis. I strive to create with you a personalized, safe relational space in which you lead the conversation content, and I provide the therapy framework and tools.

Similar to psychoanalysis, I will use psychodynamic techniques to help us recognize the underlying themes in how you relate to yourself and others. This can increase your self awareness and answer the "why" of your beliefs, patterns and fears. We can use our relationship (therapist and client) to gain insight into and address your relational needs. This kind of therapy invites courageous exploration, radical acceptance, and self compassion.

I specialize in treating complex trauma, which often causes complex-PTSD. Complex trauma is often caused by chronic emotional abuse, neglect, abandonment - usually rooted in childhood and/or adult relationships. Maybe you experience frequent emotional distress or overwhelm, feel triggered in relationships, have deep-seated beliefs that you don't deserve love, or know you have experienced intense or repeated relational harm. I have so much compassion and hope that we can find healing for you.

As a queer identified therapist, I have both lived experience and sought extra education on how living in this toxic cis-hetero-sexist patriarchy affects us, and I am so passionate about sharing healing and supporting your journey. I know how powerful it can be to connect with a fellow LGTBQ+ individual, and I would love to be that for you. Also, if you are not part of the community yourself but seeking to understand or support someone you care about, I can help you learn and grow as an ally.

I have a deep awareness and understanding of disordered eating and body image patterns that often go unnoticed or undiagnosed. It is painful and confusing to be suffering in plain sight, yet nobody around you seems concerned or understands your relationship with food and your body. Maybe your behavior gets reinforced by compliments, or maybe you hide it to prevent commentary about control and indulgence. If this sounds like you, I believe we can get to the root and give you the care you need.
