About My Clients
I enjoy supporting folks who are struggling with issues around life direction and finding meaning. In this late stage of capitalism, I find many people are suffering the consequences of understandable responses to negative life situations and the burdens imposed by modern society.
My Background and Approach
I didn't come to social work with an intention on becoming a therapist but rather had a focus on policy and community health. I worked in a variety of settings, including Indian Child Welfare, community mental health, and Nursing homes. Ultimately, I decided to seek out additional training in clinical work through post-graduate fellowships. In therapy, I draw from a wide range of trainings and interests, integrating theory and techniques from trauma-informed, harm-reduction, somatics, person-centered, ACT, feminist, multicultural, and mindfulness, modifying my approach to best meet each person’s unique needs and goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Accountability: I work to hold myself accountable when I make mistakes. I hold myself accountable to my clients, my community, and to the planet. Autonomy: I believe everyone is their own expert and should be treated as such. Access: I understand that those who need the most assistance often have the least access. I am committed to making access to mental health care equitable and accessible and choose to work in a company that matches this value. Please reach out about sliding-scale fees or if I am not in network with your insurance. Anti-racism: I am consistently working on identifying and addressing my own racial biases.
