About My Clients
My clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds. I have experience working with different communities and subcultures that can be marginalized. I provide a non-judgmental empathetic space to support discussing challenging and often taboo subjects, allowing individuals to address the difficult, challenging or traumatic parts of their experiences in the world.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from Nova Southeastern University. While an intern I worked with sexual assault victims. After that I worked with children and their parents for many years before transitioning to a hospital setting working with severe mental illness. I enjoy working with family members who have a loved one with a chronic mental illness. I am trained in SMART recovery. I have extensive training and experience in sandtray therapy. No one approach is right for everyone. We will use talk, art, sandtray, meditation, writing and more to look at what is going right in your life, as well as what needs to be let go of or transformed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
From our earliest experiences, we find creative ways to survive in painful situations. These adaptations become our go-to responses in everyday life. Many of us find that some of these patterns, brilliant and adaptive as they once were, no longer serve us or fit our current circumstances and relationships. It is through my own personal therapeutic work that I came to this understanding that talk therapy, and cognitive insight are not enough to facilitate deep change. I also know that this work can put an end to that cycle and heal ourselves and generations to come.
