About My Clients
I enjoy working with people in all stages of life. Some of those people struggle with substance use, childhood trauma, unhealthy coping mechanisms, co-dependency, anxiety, depression, burn-out, self-esteem, and stress. I also have a particular interest in working with those who are in recovery from substance use disorders or individuals who are at a crossroads in their faith. I have early morning 6:00 - 8:00 AM openings and evening openings 6:00-9:00 PM.
My Background and Approach
I received my undergrad in Christian Education and my first masters in Family Life. I then worked for a church for a few years before leaving that career path for a career in mental health. After working in mental health I worked for a drug treatment center in Spokane. There, I found my passion for helping those in varying stages of recovery. I left that position to work in Child Welfare. While in that career I decided to go back for a Master's in Social Work to permit me the opportunity to get licensed and work in private practice. My approach is strengths based and person centered. I believe every client is the expert for their life and therapy with me is simply a tool to help bring about changes they are seeking. While working in SUD treatment we used DBT. However, I often use CBT or SF-CBT with many clients. I also often utilize motivational interviewing .
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Over the last year+ of this pandemic I have found myself evaluating my role in this world. I have a strong faith rooted in the knowledge that I exist to utilize my gifts and talents to make the world a better place for others. I have a passion for advocacy and shedding light on the injustices of marginalized populations while seeking solutions with others who are willing to put the work in. I believe each person has value and deserves to live a life rooted in their convictions- whatever those may be.
