About My Clients
Although I have been trained to diagnose and treat illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorder, alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder, schizophrenia, and more, the underlying commonality is that one is in pain, suffering, and experiencing distress. However, we are not alone and help is available.
My Background and Approach
I received my psychiatric training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Adult Psychiatry. With this experience, I am able to diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric illnesses. In particular, I have specialized experience in treating eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. Although diagnosing a psychiatric illness is helpful to determine if medication is appropriate, developing a deeper understanding of a person, their life experiences, personality, biology, and routine behaviors is essential for comprehensive treatment. With acceptance and listening, I develop an understanding that goes beyond a diagnosis and work towards an individualized treatment, tailored to each unique individual.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is unique and special. Our differences contribute to our character and individuality, rather than detract. Because of our differences, the first and most important steps to helping another is to be open minded, accepting, and genuinely listen. Only after these steps are taken, can we develop an understanding of another's struggles, suffering, and how to help.
