Personal growth is at the core of all psychotherapy in my view. Today, I find that the major focus of psychotherapy is geared towards those clients who are interested in working on themselves. The client that focuses on personal growth, and self-improvement, is the client that I am interested in working with.

In my view, relationships and marital issues are the foundation of a healthy human experience. Nothing can be more rewarding in life than a healthy relationship with a loved one, and nothing can be more detrimental to our well-being than an unhealthy relationship with a loved one.

Anxiety is the human experience. It can be a major cause of harm and discomfort, or it can be channeled in a mindful, and healthy way, to be a great source of motivation, and personal power.

Using a structured approach to DBT requires us to accept the grey areas in life. We can hold two completely opposing views at the same time for example, and not suffer because of this viewpoint.

My family grew up in an area of the country where mainly immigrants were settling and working. Culturally sensitive approaches to therapy have been with me throughout my career.

Mindfulness is the starting point to therapy. It is the beginning of the conversation, and the acceptance of the discussion of ideas that allows us to address the topic at hand. It is the foundation for identifying the problem, and it guides the client towards a resolution in a healthy manner.
