I have spent many years training and learning how experiencing trauma impacts our bodies and our brains. It's more than just understanding that trauma changes the way we think and feel. And I believe that true healing from trauma takes place on a deep and complete level. Part of the trauma work will include: accessing the parasympathetic nervous system, polyvagal theory, grounding skills, safety skills, emotional regulation, etc.

The difficulty with most modalities used to address body image issues is they are focused on conscious mind modalities. However, your subconscious mind is responsible for 96 - 98% of all your habits and behaviors are powered by your subconscious mind. I'm prepared to teach you how to change your subconscious mind programming which will change how you feel and believe about your body.

When you live with chronic pain or illness it changes your perception or experience in the world. Something many people can not even relate to. We will work to validate your experiences and teach you how to honor the signals and messages you are getting from your body. Many people who live in chronically unwell bodies feel as if they are at war with their bodies. I am prepared to teach you how to make peace with your body and how to develop a true partnership with the body that you live in.

I use several different modalities for trauma treatment. I'm a believer in polyvagal theory, the vagus nerve, EMDR, etc. I have used curriculums for groups such as Seeking Safety and Beyond Trauma. I use a variety of person-centered approaches which, for me, means we find what fits and feels like a good feel for you and that's what we utilize as tools. There is no one size fits all tool when treating trauma.

Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) you will learn how to manage your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. DBT is a great resource for teaching you how to regulate your feelings and emotions. DBT also helps you to change negative patterns, habits, behaviors, and thinking.
