About My Clients
My specialty is working with children and families, which encompasses child and adolescent development, parenting, coparenting, blended families, adoption, foster care, managing divorce, dealing with stress and uncertainty, as well as a whole host of other issues that come up in these two groups of individuals. I also love working with "transitional age youth" - the post high school to 25 year old youths who are working through how to adult and move into a world fraught with ambiguity.
My Background and Approach
My educational and community based focus has included youth ages 5 to 18 and their families which connects to the following issues frequently: domestic violence, substance abuse, foster and adoption needs, neurodiversity, adjustment issues, coparenting and divorce, blended families, anxiety and depression, etc. I am what I consider a "generalist" with an emphasis on child development and family centered needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each and every person is an expert on their own lives. I am not involved with my clients to impart advice or direction that is not also generated from my clients' specific goals, ethics, and beliefs system. I am a therapist who dialogues, troubleshoots, guides and encourages my clients to accomplish their mental health goals as it fits for them in their world.
