About My Clients
I work with a variety of clients focused on improving their relationships. Whether you are dating, committed, or single. Good relationships take work. Many couples I work with struggle to communicate or have just become roommates. It is also very common for one partner to want help and the other is not quite ready; that is fine! Like relationships, sex is supposed to be fun and natural, but so many things can get in the way of good sex life. We can work together to get the tools you need.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I take an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy. I prioritize making therapy a safe place for everyone, especially those from marginalized and oppressed groups. I take a holistic approach to therapy and do not believe in a one-size fits all model. I am trauma-focused and sex-positive. What this means is I start with getting to know you and your partner and then we work together to determine a road map to reach your specific goals together. I have advanced training in emotion-focused therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and sex therapy. Additionally, I am trained in Gottman and Relational Life Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe all relationships take work. Many people I have worked with come to couples therapy thinking, "only couples getting divorced go to therapy." That is just not true! Yes, I have worked with many couples and individuals when their relationship was on the brink. BUT I believe that if you invest in your relationship and take the time to learn about yourself and your partner, the payout is priceless and can last a lifetime. As kids, we often were not taught about our emotions, how to handle disagreements in a healthy way, and how to set boundaries, but these things are critical in relationships. This is where we can work to understand ourselves, our trauma, and how that can act as a barrier to close connection and great sex.
