About My Clients

I love working with people who are interested in a holistic approach to therapy that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit. The main areas of focus for my therapeutic work are: *People who have a loved one with serious mental health issues *People who are recovering from narcissistic abuse and/or codependency Further, I also work with people looking to heal from childhood wounding and anxiety. I also love working with the LGBTQQIA+ community and people navigating poly/CNM relationships.

My Background and Approach

My name is Jessica Viscomi, MA, LMFT (MFC #104851). I go by my nickname, "Chiara" (pronounced "Key-ARE-uh"). I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California, drawing upon a rich background in psychology, the performing arts, and integrative medicine. I have been studying psychology for over 20 years, examining the dimensions of human behavior and pathways to well-being. My counseling style is warm and collaborative. I blend talk, Somatic Experiencing, expressive arts, and mindfulness in a way that allows the spaciousness of creativity and exploration, as well as the concreteness of goal-setting and building your “toolbox” of skills you can use for the rest of your life. For those who are interested, I also weave in sacred arts such as storytelling, creating altars and rituals, and more. In sum, my approach is holistic, incorporating all aspects of the person: mind, body, and spirit.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am committed to providing therapy that is anti-oppressive, as well as social justice- and trauma-informed. Further, I am committed to providing a LGBTQQIP2SAA-friendly safe space to explore sexuality, gender, and all flavors of relationships, including poly/CNM relationships. I define psychotherapy with soul as: A place to fill your cup—Therapy not only provides a place to tend to your sorrows, wounds, and regrets. It’s also a place to gather nourishment, amplify your strengths and passions, and stoke your life force and creativity. If you desire, therapy can also be a place to explore spiritual and existential matters. Empowering—You are the ultimate expert on yourself and your life. Therapy is a collaboration between you and the therapist. Genuine—The therapist is real, warm, sincere, and human, as well as professional. Heartfelt—Vulnerability, authenticity, and humor are welcome. Integrative—The whole person is considered (mind/body/spirit), not just the symptoms.
