Services
About My Clients
We continually seek to provide a safe and affirming experience for all marginalized persons, particularly those who trans, nonbinary, queer, and/or BIPOC. We are passionate about providing services for people who might not otherwise feel comfortable seeking therapy or who might not otherwise have access to it.
My Background and Approach
We provide individual therapy for a variety of presenting issues, including identity exploration, transitioning, societal stigma and marginalization, interpersonal issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, stress, and whatever else clients bring to the table. Joanna (she/her) is excited to supervise Avery Egana (they/them) from August, 2024, to July, 2025, and to be able to provide services to even more people with their help. Therapy groups for gender expansive adults meet weekly for 90 minutes, 16 weeks at a time, in person from 6-7:30 p.m. The Gender Affirmative Therapy Group, for folx who are earlier in their identity development, goes from August - December, 2024. The Next Level Thriving Therapy Group, for those who have clarity about their gender identity and are wondering what next, goes from January - April, 2025. Please contact us for an intake session prior to joining a group. Group sessions are covered by insurance or $50-55 per session out of pocket.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Avery Egana (they/them): I am a biracial, transgender therapist who is pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology at Spalding University. I use an interpersonal approach to examine how intersections of identity can impact mental health. I practice cultural humility and reflect on biases while working with clients of differing backgrounds. I am pursuing a career working with queer people of color to offer more healthcare options to marginalized communities. In my doctorate program, I am working on research looking at the way Black Americans navigate predominantly white spaces. Joanna Morse (she/her): I have worked mainly with transgender adults since 2014. I use a collaborative approach because I believe you are the expert on what is important to you, what works for you, and how you think and feel. I take an active approach, teaching skills and helping to find practical solutions. I offer IFS-informed, client-centered, existential, and DBT-informed therapy.
