About My Clients
Depression, anxiety, PTSD, bereavement, or any other diagnosis is not who you are rather it is a part of you ~ and it shouldn't be in control of your life and relationships. Therapy is about what you want, need, and can manage while creating the change you desire. Therapy can be a source of comfort, a place where you "let go" of stress, and a space that helps you feel energized. The process of therapy can even be "fun" as you strive toward improved mental and emotional well-being.
My Background and Approach
I have worked as a clinician in foster care and adoption programs, with adults who have severe persistent mental health diagnoses (i.e. schizophrenia, etc.), and private practice with a broad spectrum of clientele with varying levels of need. I utilize a person centered approach and we will work together to find what model of therapy will work best for your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the capacity to create change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe there is a limit to human growth. I believe there exists a number of reasons we develop mental health symptoms over the course of our lives. We want very much to learn how to manage them independently. We sometimes feel "stuck" in our efforts because we don't see any changes in our coping skills. Therapy is a great space to unlearn unhealthy coping and to re-learn healthy skills instead! Feeling as though we are not in control of our thoughts, emotions, and responses to stress is unpleasant and challenging. Let's work together so you can get where you'd like to be...in the driver's seat of your life!
