About My Clients

Have you been looking for support in Maryland for therapy? Are you wondering what treatment might work best for you? Would you like to have someone who intimately understands the queer experience, being gender diverse, as you do your work? Especially during the pandemic, safe spaces can feel hard to find. My clients are open to experiential styles of therapy, including writing, meditating, drawing, and talking, of course. I hope I can be a provider of safe and meaningful work for you!

My Background and Approach

We are All works-in-progress, myself included. I will approach work with you collaboratively and openly. I utilize what is called an Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) approach, which emphasizes mindfulness and acceptance, as well as committing actions towards what works, working to enhance quality over time. Clients benefit from having a space to experiment new ways of responding to their concerns, relating to their thoughts and feelings with compassion and openness.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone deserves a space to feel heard and recognized, and that therapy among the many tools we might engage in, is firstly about the therapeutic alliance and relationship. Trust and commitment are important facets of any relationship, and counseling in that way is no different. I will work hard for my clients, and believe this empowers them to build their momentum too. As a queer nonbinary person, I understand what it can mean to feel persecuted and to experience negative events around authentic expression. No matter who my client is or how they identify, I really want therapy to be a space where clients can open up and engage. I may not be able to change all the attitudes of those outside the office, but having an ally in your corner can make a huge difference. I truly believe that this kind of approach will continue to change bigoted and prejudiced opinions, inspire cold shoulders and icy minds to thaw, and instill warmth, care and compassion in our communities.
