About My Clients
Laughing and crying are two sides of the same coin. The therapeutic process is sometimes about learning to accept whichever way the coin lands. Therapy can seem like it's only about dealing with hard coin flips that cause us suffering. A coin can only land tails so many times before it turns up heads. Laughing is an important part of the process.
My Background and Approach
I combine deep listening skills with mindfulness. When I do therapy I want clients to feel safe enough to take the risks they need in order to live authentically. Through being honest and open clients are given an opportunity to take a good look at themselves. I have a personal background in meditation, Buddhist studies, Western philosophy and Christian theology. My meditation practice started in 2014. It has evolved into an integral part of how I live my life, involving daily practice. When I am with clients I want to be in the present moment, alongside them as a guide in what can be a very dark place.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
For those interested, I am a Buddhist who holds core moral values from Christianity. I believe that humans are born basically good. Inside everyone is basic goodness to live and thrive. I love to laugh and incorporate humor into the therapeutic process. Black lives matter to me. As a White, middle-aged man I stand for Black lives. When Black lives matter, then all lives will matter. I am for the open acceptance of those in the LGBTQPIA+ community. I welcome all identities.
