About My Clients
I love working with teens and adults who are self-aware and determined to make the changes they want to see. You may not know all the answers, but you're eager to find them. You know it takes time and effort, but that doesn't hold you back. I strive to be a helper + additional perspective to give you more insight into your life, relationships, and habits. Together, we can help you tackle the blind spots or misconceptions that hold you back from the freedom and joy that you want to experience.
My Background and Approach
When it comes to my approach to Therapy, it's quite simple: Therapy is about YOU. Your goals, your progress, your happiness. If there is a topic you don't want to discuss, let's not! If you are just dying to bring something up even though I just asked you a question, tell me that my question isn't how you were hoping to spend this time! This is a time to practice assertiveness and standing up for your own needs without judgment or punishment. I know firsthand that therapy can be a needed life raft in the midst of a busy or difficult life. I want you to come into our sessions and know that you can be completely "off" - you don't have to look cool, you don't have to have the answers, you don't have to try to impress me. I have already decided that I accept you unconditionally. Now let's focus on the things you want to change or learn about to make your life into one that makes you feel happier + fulfilled. You are capable of making the changes you want to see in your life! Let's do it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe all people are worthy of dignity and respect, both in legislation & in everyday interactions. I support the Black Lives Matter movement and encourage constructive conversations about race to uplift and empower people of color. I am affirming of the LGTQIA+ community. I was a Young Life leader for many years and am trained to provide a Christian outlook in therapy, if that is something that is important to you. I have experience working with deconstruction, perfectionism, legalism, and spiritual abuse if those are topics you would like to cover. My personal beliefs aren't necessarily the most important factor in the therapeutic relationship, as it is my job to ensure that we operate from your worldview. At the end of the day, it's not my life we are discussing - it's yours! My practice uses an online scheduler so you don't have to worry about emailing back and forth or play phone tag for a session.
