About My Clients
As a multiracial black woman, I enjoy working with clients with any identity concerns, including experiences of intersectionality, oppression, and internalized oppression. I appreciate working with lawyers/law students, college students, and other professionals. I have particular interest in exploring client giftedness, creativity, sensitivity, and high achievement. I often work with clients who feel stuck professionally, struggle with work/life balance, or are considering a career change.
My Background and Approach
My winding path has taken me from civil rights policy work to work in student affairs, career counseling, & several years in a university counseling center. I have extensive counseling experience with emerging & young adults (18-30s) & others navigating life transitions. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in DC and Virginia.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that building our therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the work that we do. I will spend time getting to know you, so that we can work together to help you navigate overwhelming emotions & find your voice amidst self-doubt and self-criticism. I aim to help clients explore meaning in their lives and cultivate compassion for self and others. While I bring therapeutic expertise, I believe that you are the true expert on your life, & my job is to help remove any roadblocks keeping you from moving forward. My approach can help you recognize your own strengths and resources, as well as your capacity to adapt, grow, and demonstrate resilience when faced with challenges.
