About My Clients
Life is difficult when dealing with physical health, family or marital situations, dating hardships, work conflict and/or past life experiences. You may feel the impact of immigration, cultural background, racial identity, generational differences, interpersonal challenges, and career demands on your wellbeing. We live in a very challenging environment in this present day. If you find yourself wanting to learn ways to cope, I'll be happy to walk this journey with you.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker and completed my graduate training in advanced clinical practice from Columbia University in NY. My practice involves using various framework including CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and Compassion based approaches. I also rely heavily on trauma focused interventions such as IFS, EMDR and CPT. All this means that our sessions are focused on helping you build healthy skills and perspective to have a meaningful and satisfying quality of life. The feedback my clients have given me include feeling like they had the opportunity to work actively in session with someone who has empathy but yet practical in the approach. They have told me that they did not like just talking about problems and not know what they are getting out of therapy. I am an evidence based therapist, thus I focus on what you may want to achieve using research based modalities that have demonstrated evidence of success in the areas that you are working on.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We all have strengths and weaknesses. Our weaknesses become our strengths when we have self awareness. But our strengths become weaknesses when we are overly self focused. Thus becoming self aware helps you to understand how to be self accepting and confident in making choices for yourself. My life story involves growing up in challenging and diverse environments. I hope to bring my life experiences as an immigrant, a woman, and a person of color to help you in your journey in pursuing a healthy and meaningful life. I look forward to hearing from you and walking with you as part of your life story. “All through my life when faced with a difficult decision, I always ask myself - where can I learn more. Make the choice to learn.” – Maria Ressa, journalist, author, activist
