Hi, I'm Karley! I'm a narrative therapist specializing in shame, sexual stigma, men's issues, and identity exploration.
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Fullerton, CA
Supervised by Therese Lee, LMFT #118957
When working with clients struggling with low self-esteem, I encourage the exploration of dominant narratives that have shaped their self-perception. This may include internalized messages from family, peers, society, and their own self-judgment. I also introduce exercises that help develop self-compassion, highlight alternative perspectives, and identify strengths and skills.
I primarily introduce DBT interventions when coping skills are needed for improved distress tolerance. This modality is especially helpful for C-PTSD, panic attacks, and anger.
IFS speaks to my belief that there is no room for shame in therapy. Accepting all of your "selves," even the ones we would rather pretend didn't exist, fosters self-compassion and self-trust.
My approach to therapy is primarily grounded in Narrative theory. I was drawn to this modality by its focus on social constructs and storytelling. I have worked under several supervisors specializing in Narrative therapy and have also done my own independent research.
