About My Clients

If you are seeking support for continuing your self-actualization journey, we may be a good match. My ideal client is motivated to work on their material outside of sessions and is open to understanding how cultural forces play into individual struggles. I have worked extensively with women who have experienced all kinds of trauma, and had success teaching strategies to mitigate anxiety.

My Background and Approach

I have worked in the human services field for over 30 years, including some time in hospice. As an attachment theorist, my work points us to the fact that our relationships matter, and they matter from the very beginning. How we regulate ourselves as individuals is first learned (or not learned so well) from our primary caregivers, and our need for co-regulation never really ends throughout the life span. In treatment, my clients learn how to co-regulate and we talk about the difference between *reacting* to a situation rather than *responding* to adverse experiences in life. We identify methods of resiliency and outline resources to move toward more optimal patterns that serve well-being and happiness. I have studied Interpersonal Neurobiology extensively, use a mindful, somatic, feminist approach, and frequently use Internal Family System (IFS) techniques in treatment: IFS is a non pathologizing approach: All parts are welcome to the table toward integration and wellness.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that it is possible for us all to wake up and realize that we only have one planet, and that we need to figure out how to talk to each other and get along. We also need to deal with the horizontal hostility that feeds the rich and disadvantages the marginalized, poor, disabled, people of color, LGBTQ, Jewish folks, and others. This disparity of who "wins" in the this culture and who loses is actually hurting everyone, including the "winners." I think cultural forces of oppression--sexism, classism, antisemitism, prejudice and discrimination against people of color (i.e., White Supremacy)--are forces that absolutely need to be reckoned with in order to fully heal. I have dearly held spiritual beliefs, and am comfortable working with agnostic or atheist folks as well. check out my blog for more information about me.
