About My Clients
Throughout life, we all pick up different coping mechanisms (some positive, some negative) that aid in our actual or perceived ability to survive. Sometimes, these survival instincts become blocks, keeping us stuck in patterns that impact our relationships with others and ourselves. In therapy, my clients learn to identify the instincts holding them back and learn, with lots of self-compassion, their power to re-author their own story and skills to help them truly thrive.
My Background and Approach
I work within a framework of Narrative and Experiential therapy. Both are more modern approaches to therapy that put you in the driver seat of your work. In our shared power, my role is to support your healing though development of self-awareness, personal agency, emotional expression, and community connection. Sometimes this work may be more didactic. Sometimes it will involve movement, games, or tactile work and at times we may focus more on psychoeducation. I work with each client as an individual to determine an appropriate approach to support their goals. My background has given me extensive experience working with kids and teens healing from trauma, grief, and family disfunction or separation. These experiences may be at the core of their anxiety, depression, or negative coping behaviors. My history of working with families who have been impacted by substance use has provided me with the firm belief that recovery is possible and that even deeply pained relationships can heal.
