About My Clients
My clients are successful and functioning and used to holding things together on their own. They are looking for a place where they can breathe and have permission to not have everything figured out. I specialize in working with folks who are navigating the realities of life with a chronic illness or lifelong condition, religious trauma/spiritual abuse and deconstruction of the Christian faith, and grief and loss.
My Background and Approach
I’m a clinical counselor who has been working as a therapist for the last 10 years. My experience in the mental health field has been all over the board, but my sweet spot is individual counseling for adults. I’m a provider who likes to work with folks who want to dig deep into the “whys” underneath their thoughts or behaviors. We’ll work to give you tools and coping skills to address the exacerbation of your symptoms, but this will also be paired with an exploration of the “root system” underneath your symptoms to understand how we got to where you are. I love creating space for my clients to make new connections, to let go of past narratives that are no longer serving them, and to step boldly and confidently into their future with a greater knowledge, trust, and reliance on themselves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work from a trauma-informed lens with a keen eye for how systemic injustice (racism, ableism, patriarchy, queer phobia, fat phobia, sexism, etc.) impacts our experience of mental health. I do not pretend that any amount of therapy is going to undo systemic oppression, but I am here to encourage your cultivation of safety in a world that is fundamentally unsafe for anyone living with a marginalized identity. I believe in your fundamental wisdom, value, and trustworthiness.
