About My Clients

I frequently work with LGBTQ2IA+ folks, college/post college, and young adults. I also specialize in trauma, substance use, and depression & anxiety. My approach to counseling is realistic, down-to-earth, and very human. I'm compassionate but direct, using warmth and humor with my clients. I also often use the Brainspotting technique to help guide my clients to a better understanding of themselves. Feel free to reach out if you want to know more about how I may help you on your healing journey!

My Background and Approach

Sometimes going through life feels like hitting the same wall over and over again. Our past traumas, experiences in relationships, societal and/or familial expectations can unconsciously start to dictate the ways that we think about ourselves and how we relate to the world; we start to have trouble seeing ourselves clearly. As a therapist, I strive to provide a validating space to explore the issues and pain that might be holding you back; helping to refocus your vision so that you are able to witness your own resilience and unique power. You matter...I'll say it again--you matter. You deserve to feel joy. You deserve to stand in your own truth without self-judgement. You deserve healthy relationships, and freedom from trauma/depression/anxiety. We can work together to help you get there. Our focus in therapy won't always be queer issues- it will be about whatever pain/issue you bring to therapy, but you won't ever have to worry about judgement or a lack of understanding with me.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As stated above, I am a queer, lesbian therapist, and consistent activist for our community. At the beginning of my therapeutic career, I saw several individuals who had met with past therapists who actually created more trauma for them due to a lack of knowledge and education on queer related issues. Individuals were consistently being misgendered, having to teach their therapist about queer issues, and an overall a lack of accessibility to good care. I personally experienced this with my own past therapists--having to take half a session to explain a queer related term, or being told queerness comes from past traumas. Therefore, I made it part of my life purpose to support queer people through therapeutic relationship, and to educate clinicians on how to queer affirmative through various trainings and presentations. I want to be part of the generation that helps create better clinicians who will best serve the queer community, rather than re-traumatize us.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
