About My Clients
I and my team work well with creative people and those who are motivated to do their inner work. We bring curiosity and care to every client and ask that you take our work together seriously and with purpose. We also bring a spirit of hope and warmth to our meetings and offer you the space to open up about what's on your mind. We're in-network with MHN and offer some out-of-network billing services as well, which we can discuss with you.
My Background and Approach
I am a gay man in my fifties. I have extensive background in LGBTQ2A+ psychology, affirmative psychotherapy, religious/cultic trauma, Jungian psychology, HIV/AIDS, working with creative/artistic individuals, writers and performers, hospital outpatient mental health, consultation, and supervision. My goal is to meet you where you're at and collaboratively create a space and path of healing and development with you. I rely on a good bit of Jungian and Object relations ideas,* but keep open to a variety of ways of viewing the work so as to customize treatment that's right for you. (*C.G. Jung's ideas have to do with seeking integration and wholeness within the self. Object relations theory refers to the experience of "parts" of the self that have their various agendas and learning how to negotiate and relate to these parts.) Theory aside, my goal is to relate to you human-to-human, helping you to address the concerns that are important to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I and my team of associates are active members of several groups: the LGBTQ community, the Ecotherapy community, caretakers of people with cancer, and those left behind following a loved one's suicide. We're also dog owners, cat owners, gardeners, writers, filmmakers, actors, ravers, foodies, and rock climbers.
