About My Clients
My clients are individuals navigating challenges such as mood issues, anxiety, trauma, or identity-related concerns. Many face overlapping struggles that impact their quality of life and relationships. I work with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those in the queer community who seek a safe, affirming space to explore their experiences. My clients value collaboration, authenticity, and a nonjudgmental environment where they can process their emotions, build resilience, and foster personal growth.
My Background and Approach
I help clients manage mood issues, anxiety, trauma, and identity-related challenges. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher in Philadelphia, which taught me the value of empathy, patience, and fostering a supportive environment. As a woman and a member of the queer community, I bring lived experiences to my work, allowing me to connect deeply with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those in the queer community. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), all through a multicultural lens. I recognize how factors like race, culture, gender identity, and early experiences shape who we are. I prioritize building authentic, collaborative relationships with clients, offering a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore and grow. I also value humor, empathy, and being genuine in the therapeutic process.
Why I Became a Therapist
I became a therapist because I have always been drawn to understanding people’s stories and helping them navigate life’s challenges. My background as a teacher showed me how early experiences shape us, and I wanted to dive deeper into supporting individuals beyond the classroom. As someone who has faced my own struggles with identity, anxiety, and belonging, I know how impactful it can be to have a safe, compassionate space to process and heal. These experiences inspired me to work with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others who often feel misunderstood or unseen. Becoming a therapist allows me to empower clients to embrace their authentic selves, overcome obstacles, and build meaningful lives. I value the opportunity to walk alongside my clients on their journeys, offering support, tools, and empathy. Therapy isn’t just a profession for me—it’s a calling rooted in a deep belief in the resilience of the human spirit and the power of connection to create lasting change.
